Education is not priority in Nigeria, Uniuyo Student
A final year student of
the Univeristy of Uyo, Uyo. Identified as Goodnews Samuel, has advised the
Nigerian Students to go and learn trade, since education is not a priority issue
following the ongoing ASUU Strike in the country. This was made at the ongoing SAY NO TO UNEMPLOYMENT IN UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROJECT.

The issue of education
continues to make headlines, but very little actual progress is being made. We
have never seen any sound evaluation of the contribution that the federal
government (FG) and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to are making
to end the strike. In fact, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) around
the country continue to express their dissatisfaction with leadership, in the
educational sector.
The reality is our country is guilty of becoming increasingly apathetic about education.

“It is not just about the educational qualification. Millions of our gradates’ have, consistently, shown a low employed at derives face of education around the country, It is also about how our gradates’ are surviving after school."

Seating idle in the house waiting for ASUU to call off strike is time wasted; our future is in jeopardy and with each passing day, we become more vulnerable to the darkness of ignorance and unawareness. While encouraging Nigerian students to engage in any form of trade that can help them in due seasons.
